Having never left America before studying abroad, a call to adventure in my 3rd year at UCSD brought me overseas to Japan where the sprawling metropolis of Tokyo is overlain with vivid torii gates of centuries past. No doubt there were many sights and thoughts that I have never encountered, and my mind was broadened because of them. The Zen gardens throughout Kamakura, and the ancient temples of Kyoto kept my spirit enthralled and engaged in this faraway land. But it was the appeal to the senses that brought me back – ceremonial tea in Uji, Takoyaki in Dotonburi, the rich broth of Ichiran Ramen; these brought me back to Japan for the second semester.  Indeed I found a land of both Sake and Satori in studying at Meiji Gakuin University in Yokohama, Japan. No matter where you go, you will be enriched in ways beyond what you would expect, I only hope you will stop in the office and tell us about it!
