Andra Jacques is a study abroad advisor at UC San Diego. Her advsing focuses on diversity outreach and inclusion with the goal to reach students who never thought that they could study abroad.

Andra graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a B.A. in International Studies and a concentration in Peace Studies. During her undergrad, she studied abroad in Siracusa, Sicily and has since traveled throughout Europe, Central America, Africa and Asia. Some of her most impactful experiences abroad have been performing on-site coordination for a faculty-led program for two summers in rural Akatsi, Ghana. Andra also recently completed a Fulbright in Korea where she visited twelve Korean universities and ate kimchi every day!

Don’t be afraid to put yourself in new situations. Traveling and living within a different culture allow you to meet wonderful people, try things you never would have tried otherwise and develop marketable skills for the workplace. It changes the way you see the world! You can learn a language, eat something exotic and make a life-long friend. When you study abroad, you have fantastic adventures right at your fingertips, don’t miss out on this!
