How to Apply to a UCEAP Program

You must submit TWO applications: Tritons Abroad and the UCEAP Portal application

  • Deadlines and capacity information are listed here. Check the Status column for important fill-rate information.
  • Students can only apply to one UCEAP program for a given term abroad. If you are not selected for a program, your advisor can work with you to find an alternative.

Tritons Abroad applications open October 1, 2023

2024-25 Tritons Abroad applications open October 1, 2023

1) Check the program's deadline and capacity information.

- If your program has a rolling deadline, applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. This is particularly important for limited capacity programs (indicated in the Status column of the deadlines page) since these programs will close once full.
- Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered without pre-approval from a UC San Diego Study Abroad Advisor.

2) Create a Tritons Abroad account. (Note: New students who have not yet registered for classes, may use the "Non-UCSD student login" option if UCSD's Single Sign-On system doesn't recognize you.)

3) In Tritons Abroad, navigate to the "Search programs" tab, find your UCEAP program, and complete the application for the appropriate term you intend to study abroad.  Be sure to submit the application.

4) You will receive a confirmation email of the completed Tritons Abroad application from abroad@ucsd.edu. Save this email.

If your program admits students on a rolling basis, you can expect an email within 3 weeks from the time you submit your applications. If your application has a single deadline, you can expect an email within 3 weeks after the application deadline.

- After UCSD reviews your application, we will email you next-step information. Included in this email is the Academic Planning Form, a tool in which you list the courses you plan to take abroad and your academic advisors will review and five feedback for course equivalencies.

- After UCEAP reviews and approves your application, they will send you a welcome email with their next steps.

From application to departure, check your email regularly for updates from Study Abroad UC San Diego and UCEAP.
