Summer 2022 Global Seminars

Looking ahead to Summer 2023!

Our application cycle is now closed for Summer 2022. Please sign-up here to be notified when we have significant updates to our 2023 Global Seminars.

What is a Global Seminar?

UC San Diego Global Seminars are summer session global experiences led by a UCSD professor. Students enroll in a package of two courses for a total of eight UCSD quarter units. Class sizes are between 15–28 students, so there are excellent opportunities for one-on-one interaction with some of the best faculty at UCSD. All courses are taught in English.

Global Seminars Mission

Our mission is to increase access to study abroad opportunities for all students in good academic and disciplinary standing regardless of socio-economic status, race, gender, sexuality, or disability. Our programs are designed to provide a supportive environment where students can pursue an academically meaningful experience with highly rated faculty members focused on socially relevant topics for credit towards their degree. See the Study Abroad diversity page for student stories and resources.

COVID-19 Considerations

  • The Global Seminars team is working with risk management experts to monitor the worldwide COVID-19 situation. We will make carefully considered decisions in the spring about which summer 2022 programs are safe to run.
  • Although we are hopeful that many programs will run, you should have a summer back-up plan.
  • All students must comply with all UC policies regarding COVID vaccination. Host country governments, program partners, and airlines may also require COVID vaccination.
  • See the Study Abroad COVID-19 page for more information.
